Emmanuel Bible Church
Our Church
Established in 1970 as Mohawk Bible Baptist Church, our current name was assumed in 1988 in an effort to more closely identify who we are. EBC is an independent Bible church in the Mohawk Valley of central New York. Our name is representative of our focal aspects:
"Emmanuel" = the desire to know the genuine
reality of "God with us" and make
His presence and glory known.
"Bible" = the inspired, inerrant and infallible
Word of God as the foundation of faith
and the singular guide of living.
"Church" = the true manifestation of the work of
Christ in building lives and letting His
light shine in our community.
As a church family, we "press toward the mark" of these purposes and gladly welcome those who would join us in these efforts.
Our Ministry
We are a pastor-led ministry and governed by the pastor, elders and deacons whom the Lord has given to us to shepherd and care for His flock.
Pastor Gary Wilcox and his wife, Mary Ann, have been
serving our church family since 1986. They have
four children and twelve grandchildren in the
states of New Hampshire and South Carolina.
Our teaching and preaching ministries are based
upon the English Standard Version and we utilize
mostly traditional hymns in our services.
Realizing that the gospel is "the power of God for
salvation to everyone who believes"(Rom. 1:16), we
strive to proclaim the good news through the
support of world wide missions, personal
evangelism and opportunities in our community.
The edification of the body of Christ for the
work of the ministry(Ephesians 4) is a priority in
our regular times of gathering and the systematic
teaching of God's Word is our primary method of
doing so.
